Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that this year's ‘Freed to Run,' the annual charity multi-marathon led by Gunster Shareholder Mike Freed, begins on Monday, November 14. Freed to Run has raised over $1,900,000 to date and this year is expected to fully fund an endowment for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid's (JALA's) Northeast Florida Medical Legal Partnership (NFMLP), which supports pediatric patients and their families in navigating legal obstacles that often impede their health outcomes.
Freed to Run 6.0 will feature members of the Jacksonville Bar Association (JBA) divided into teams called Too Big to Fail (Big Law), Neutrals Never Quit (JBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Practitioners committee) and Too Small to Fall (Solo and Small-Firm committee), competing to see who can sign up the most JBA members; run the most aggregate miles; and raise the most money for JALA’s NFMLP. Each group will field a relay team to run in the last of the six Freed to Run marathons, which will be run on Saturday, November 19.
The journey begins at the Florida Supreme Courthouse in Tallahassee and finishes at the Duval County Courthouse in Jacksonville.

About the Northeast Florida Medical Legal Partnership
The NFMLP is part of a nationwide network of projects in which professionals from the medical and legal communities combine resources to produce outcomes for low-income and vulnerable patients (children and adults) that positively impact their health and ability to thrive. Through the partnership, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid serves about 200 children a year, including patients of Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, Jacksonville, UF Health Specialty Pediatric Clinics, and Community PedsCare®, a pediatric program of Community Hospice & Palliative Care.
About Jacksonville Area Legal Aid
The mission of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid Inc. is to provide high-quality legal assistance to low-income and other special-need groups and to stimulate and empower groups of poor people to accomplish energetic and affirmative advocacy, all to alleviate the circumstances, incidence and causes of poverty.
