Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Jason Johnson has joined the firm’s Orlando location as a shareholder. Johnson enters the Business Litigation practice, bringing extensive knowledge and expertise in complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy law, and creditors' rights.
With over 25 years of experience under his belt, Johnson’s practice encompasses a wide range of issues, from disputes in mergers and acquisitions to contract disputes and securities fraud cases. He has a deep understanding of all aspects of creditors’ rights cases and bankruptcy, commercial foreclosure and workout proceedings, having background in cases with client assets exceeding $50 billion and claims exceeding $1 billion. Furthermore, as a Florida Supreme Court-certified circuit mediator, he has facilitated the resolution of over 100 sophisticated commercial restructuring and complex commercial litigation cases.

Johnson’s diverse clientele has included commercial lending institutions, REITs, hedge funds, private equity groups and financial institutions including Freddie Mac – one of the largest secondary mortgage lenders in the Unites States. In addition to his litigation practice, Johnson serves as outside general counsel to numerous companies, including global enterprises, assisting clients in managing risk and crafting future-focused solutions.
Johnson has been generously decorated throughout his career, being certified by the American Board of Certification in Business Bankruptcy, awarded "Lawyer of the Year" for bankruptcy litigation in 2022 by Best Lawyers®, and named as one of the Best Lawyers in America® from 2012 to present.
Johnson earned his J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law and his B.S. from University of Florida.
