WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 6, 2019) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that William J. Schifino, Jr. has been appointed to the Judicial Qualifications Commission by The Florida Bar for a six year term.

The 15-member commission is authorized to investigate complaints against judges whose conduct demonstrates a present unfitness to hold office and recommends disciplinary action to the Supreme Court. The Florida Bar appoints two members to the commission and the remaining members are appointed by the governor.

“I’m honored that I will have the opportunity to continue to serve the citizens of the state of Florida and thankful The Florida Bar appointed me to this important position,” said Schifino regarding his appointment.

Gunster attorney Bill SchifinoBill Schifino is managing shareholder of Gunster’s Tampa office and is a board certified specialist in the area of business litigation. His practice focuses on litigation and trial practice, including matters related to securities and arbitration, professional malpractice, director and officer employment litigation and intellectual property litigation.

Schifino served as president of The Florida Bar for the 2016-2017 term. He also previously served eight years as a member of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, appointed by both Governors Jeb Bush and Charlie Crist, and served as its chairman.
