Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Derek E. Bruce has been elected as chair of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida Board of Directors.
The African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida is a membership organization serving public, private, and not-for-profit African American-owned businesses and organizations in Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties. As chair, Derek will strengthen the Chamber's commitment to cultivating a thriving business environment for African American companies, an engaged public awareness for minority firms, and education and advocacy for both members and the Central Florida community.
Derek Bruce is Gunster's Orlando Office Managing Shareholder and previously chaired the firm's Diversity Committee. Derek also serves on the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Central Florida and the Florida Prepaid College Foundation. He is actively involved and heavily invested in expanding diversity in the legal profession and the Orlando community.
With nearly 25 years of experience in bid protest litigation, Derek represents clients in all aspects of state and local government procurement, including analyzing potential contracting opportunities, assisting clients in responding to competitive solicitations, contract negotiation, contract implementation and contractual disputes.
