WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 9, 2018) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that the Florida Bar board of governors has appointed litigation attorney Preethi Sekharan to the American Bar Association’s (ABA) House of Delegates.
Sekharan was one of two lawyers appointed to serve the designated two-year term commencing on Aug. 8 at the conclusion of the ABA Annual Meeting.
“I am very honored to have received this appointment and look forward to representing the Florida Bar on a national level,” said Sekharan regarding her appointment.
The House of Delegates serves as the policy-making body of the ABA and meets twice each year, at ABA annual and midyear meetings. Action taken by the House of Delegates on specific issues becomes official ABA policy.
Sekharan’s practice focuses on assisting the firm’s clients with matters pertaining to intellectual property and trade secret disputes and serves on the intellectual property committee of the ABA. An active member of the Martin County legal community, Sekharan has served as past president of the Martin County Bar Association in addition to formerly chairing its Judicial Relations Committee. She also served as past president of the Martin County Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. Her additional involvement includes serving as an officer and active board member of the Justice Major B. Harding American Inn of Court, and was recently appointed by Governor Scott to serve a second term on the Florida Bar’s Federal Practice Committee.
