WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (September 18, 2019) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Ron Brisé has been appointed to the Florida Blockchain Task Force by Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis. The Task Force will hold its first meeting on September 23, 2019, in Tallahassee. Brisé is a government affairs consultant with Gunster and is a former Public Service Commissioner and former State Representative.

"I’m honored to be appointed to Florida’s innovative new Blockchain Task Force and I thank CFO Patronis for the opportunity to research and recommend policies to make Florida a leader in Blockchain technology,’ said Brisé of his appointment. “I look forward to working with the CFO and my fellow task force members in providing insight into this emerging industry and its possible benefits to local and state government in Florida.”

The Blockchain Task Force will study if and how Florida’s state, county, and municipal governments can benefit from a transition to blockchain-based systems for recordkeeping, data security, financial transactions, and service delivery, and identify ways blockchain technology can be used to improve government interaction with businesses and the public.

Brisé is an accomplished, legislative leader and senior executive with more than 20 years of experience in telecom, energy, utilities, government and business. He has established himself as a thought leader in telecom having testified before the U.S. Senate on telecom issues, served on the joint board on universal service and on the Universal Service Administrative Company. Following his tenure in the Florida Legislature, Brisé was tapped to serve on the Florida Public Service Commission where he served multiple terms including in the role of chair.
