Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that Andrew Steif joined the firm’s business litigation practice as a shareholder in its Jacksonville office.
Steif is a seasoned trial lawyer with fifteen years of experience in complex transportation and commercial litigation matters. He represents clients before state and federal courts, focusing primarily on transportation-related disputes, including complex matters under the Carmack Amendment, Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, shipping delay and demurrage issues, rate disputes and a variety of tort claims.
In addition to assisting clients with many distinct types of transportation issues, Steif offers experience defending clients against real property, banking, product liability, and trust and estate litigation matters. He has also worked on dozens of appeals before Florida’s appellate courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh and Sixth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
“Andrew brings an impressive combination of skills and unique legal expertise in transportation-related litigation matters that will underscore and complement the depth and versatility of our growing business litigation practice,” said Bill Perry, managing shareholder of Gunster. “We continue to recruit impressive individuals who perform outstanding legal work, primarily within niche areas of the law, like transportation, which is in exceptionally high demand by our clients.”
Well-respected among his industry peers, Steif held the Rising Star title by Super Lawyers magazine consecutively from 2013-2017. He is also a member of several professional law organizations, notably the Transportation Lawyers Association, where he serves on the Freight Claims and Transportation Rail Committee, and the Federal Bar Association in Jacksonville.
A Florida native, Steif earned his J.D. from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.
