Gunster is proud to announce that Tampa Office Managing Shareholder Bill Schifino is one of three leaders in the legal community who was honored at the ADL Florida 2021 Virtual Jurisprudence Award Celebration on March 10.
The annual Jurisprudence Awards celebrate individuals who have made outstanding contributions in our Florida community, while exemplifying the principles on which ADL was founded.
Service to his community and profession are the cornerstone of Bill's career, having served as a longtime board member to The Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay, and coached and counseled youth with Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the YMCA.
Early in his career, Bill was elected President of the Young Lawyers Division of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and went on to be elected President of the Association and Foundation. Eventually he served on The Florida Bar Board of Governors and in 2016-17, he served as President of The Florida Bar. In recent years, his service continued with various appointments related to Florida's judicial system.
Bill's law practice focuses on litigation and trial practice, including securities litigation and arbitration, professional malpractice litigation, director and officer litigation, employment litigation and intellectual property litigation.
The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) Florida serves as the primary resource for victims of anti-Semitism in the state, one of the largest growing Jewish populations in the United States. To prevent and combat anti-Semitism, the ADL Florida office delivers effective anti-bias education programs to educators and students of all ages; trains law enforcement about hate crimes and extremist groups; safeguards civil rights and the separation of church and state; confronts anti-Semitism on college campuses; provides security seminars to religious institutions; fields discrimination complaints of all kinds; advocates for Israel; and promotes interfaith relations.
