Shareholder Jonathan Kent Osborne recently published an article with Hospitality Technology on the increased risks of cyberattacks in hospitality and similar industries. With hotel service now mostly online to meet the need for contactless service and increasingly reduced staff due to the global pandemic, there's more vulnerability and opportunity for cyber incidents.
Osborne noted in the article that the FBI has reported its Cyber Division has been receiving between 3,000 and 4,000 cybersecurity complaints each day, which is up by approximately 400% from pre-pandemic numbers. He gives two main ways companies can level the playing field against threat actors working to undermine security. These include: educating and preparing your entire organization for possible cyberattack and empowering an Incident Response team.
