On January 24, 2024, Miguel Diaz de la Portilla and Elinette Ruiz-Diaz de la Portilla won a 9 to 2 rezoning approval before the Miami-Dade County Commission on a contentious appeal of an application to to fill a 29 acre lake on a 57 acre parcel of submerged land in NW Miami-Dade for Lake Sana Developments, LLC.
The project was approved at Community Council but a group of objectors appealed to the County Commission where the project was ultimately approved.
The project consists of 100 workforce housing units on 10 - three (3) story multi-family buildings, including recreational amenities, a network of sidewalks, green open spaces and lush landscaping exceeding minimum code requirements.
