Gunster Shareholder Miguel Diaz de la Portilla was recently interviewed by WPLG Local 10 and WSVN 7News weighing in on a proposed plan to turn a man-made lake in Northwest Miami-Dade County into much-needed workforce housing.
Diaz de la Portilla, who represents Lake Sana Developments, explains that the project would only use 29 of the 57 acres that Lake Sana owns, and the rest would be maintained as open space and water. The plan also includes revitalizing for the first time in decades Optimist Club, a county-owned park on the lake.
"It’s a project that is tailored and geared for the local workforce, professionals, paraprofessionals, teachers, firefighters," Diaz de la Portilla states.
Miguel Diaz de la Portilla focuses his practice on local government law, particularly land use and zoning and government procurement. With decades of experience as a land use and zoning attorney in Miami-Dade County, Miguel represents major developers in securing government approvals for large scale residential, commercial, mixed use, and/or retail projects before various municipal and county governments. He is also a skilled civil litigator who has represented clients in matters before state and federal courts and an array of administrative bodies.
