WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 11, 2016) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, welcomes new shareholder Eric Coffman to its Fort Lauderdale office, where he will bring his insight and experience to a wide variety of real estate, leasing, joint venture and financing matters.
With more than a decade of legal experience, Coffman’s practice focuses on representing real estate developers in the acquisition, sale and development of shopping centers, office buildings, warehouses, and related leases with national and regional tenants. His retail experience further broadens Gunster's turnkey real estate and land use footprint in South Florida.
Furthermore, he also represents real estate owners as borrowers in financing transactions with portfolio lenders, conduit lenders, and life insurance companies, including complex syndications and participated loans.
In 2010, Coffman was named a Rising Star by Florida Super Lawyers magazine. Since that time, Coffman and his legal teams have been listed among industry leaders by Law360, The Legal 500 and other national publications. Most recently, Coffman’s market awareness helped his team secure a tier-1 ranking by Best Law Firms/U.S. News & World Report’s honor for real estate law in 2015.
Coffman’s ability to motivate others goes beyond the legal circles and into serving the community. He was formerly a member of the board of directors for Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth (HANDY), a Fort Lauderdale program that has served thousands of at-risk children, and is involved with the young leaders division of the Urban Land Institute. Additionally, Coffman is a member of the Broward and Fort Lauderdale Leadership classes and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Coffman holds a B.A. in Spanish, magna cum laude, from Emory University and a J.D., with honors, from the Emory School of Law.
