Businesses may vary across industry and type of work, but one common denominator is the state and federal legislation under which they all operate. The Orlando Business Journal recently gathered 17 local attorneys from various firms to discuss the issues and trends that could impact businesses. Gunster Orlando office managing shareholder Derek Bruce was among those on the panel and discussed his thoughts on talks of impeachment surrounding President Trump. "From a federal standpoint, we could be looking at an economic slowdown if the national focus is on something different," said Bruce. "At the state level, with health care costs rising at a rate that's unsustainable, the removal of the certificate of need process is a big deal and we will see how that plays out in the next year or two."
With nearly twenty years’ of practice, Bruce primarily concentrates his work on government affairs and lobbying. He represents clients before state and local governments throughout the state of Florida on land use, procurement and regulatory issues. Before joining Gunster, Bruce led the statewide governmental affairs team for one of Florida’s most recognizable entities.
