Program brings legal, medical professions togetherIn recognition of Freed to Run 2.0 which took its course on December 2 - December 7, Gunster's Asghar Syed contributed his thoughts in a recent op-ed with the Jacksonville Daily Record.

Last year, Syed made it a point to speak with Jim Kowalski, executive director of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid and Katy DeBriere, with the North Florida Medical Legal Partnership in regards to their ties to the Jacksonville business community. United, these medical and legal professionals work together to serve low-income and vulnerable patients, often children.

Gunster business litigation attorney, Mike Freed, took this vision a step further by organizing Freed to Run, a six series marathon to raise funds for NFMLP. Over five years, the goal is to raise $1 million for NFMLP that will be matched by $1.25 million from the Baptist Health Foundation to form an endowment to fund NFMLP in perpetuity. With the Baptist Health Foundation match, the inaugural Freed to Run raised more than $150,000 in 2017 and aims to more than double that figure this year.

Gunster business litigation attorney Asghar Syed seeks to assist clients by using commercial litigation and other dispute resolution tools to achieve positive outcomes to contested matters. Asghar's passion for public service and community initiatives led him to help launch TEDxJacksonville. He stays heavily engaged with the Jacksonville legal and business community through his service on the board of governors for the Jacksonville Bar Association and the board of directors for the Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.
