WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (July 16, 2019) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that shareholder Seth R. Kaplan has been appointed to the board of directors for the United Way of Miami-Dade.
He will serve a three-year term for the organization that works to build a stronger Miami through education, financial stability and health.
“Having been a donor for over 20 years and a witness to the expansion of some of the incredible programs implemented by the United Way of Miami-Dade, including its nationally renowned Center for Excellence in Early Education, it is a great honor to serve as a member of the board,” said Kaplan regarding his new role.
Kaplan is a member of Gunster’s private wealth services practice where he concentrates in the areas of planned giving, charitable trusts, personal income taxation and estate planning for high net worth individuals. His clients include fund managers, executives in public companies and top management at high net worth private companies. He has been involved in planning and coordinating major gifts to national universities and other charitable organizations, including significant impact gifts to Drexel University, the University of Miami, the University of Florida, United Way of Miami-Dade County and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
Kaplan has served the United Way of Miami-Dade in several capacities, including chairing the professional advisory committee, and as a member of the organizing committee of the endowment and the Tocqueville Society. In 2015, he was honored as the United Way’s “Donor Next Door” sponsored by Philanthropy Miami.
