Gunster’s Timothy McGinn shared his insights with Yahoo Finance on the potential remedies for Google’s monopoly, as proposed by the Department of Justice. McGinn highlighted that device manufacturers and browser services might still choose Google as a default despite if the court blocks Google from default placement agreements.

In addition, McGinn predicts that the DOJ might push for mobile devices, browsers, and wireless carriers to offer consumers a choice between search providers. This approach would then lead to more phones and browsers being preprogrammed to use alternative search engines.
