JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 24, 2016)- Gunster, Florida’s law firm for business, is pleased to announce that shareholder David Wells has been honored by the Jacksonville Business Journal as an Ultimate Attorney in the category of medium-sized law firms. Wells will be recognized at the inaugural Ultimate Attorneys breakfast on February 25.
According to the Jacksonville Business Journal, the award was established to “honor lawyers with exemplary professional talents and skills who demonstrate leadership, charitable concern and civic engagement.”
The breakfast will take place at the Omni Hotel in downtown Jacksonville from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. There are 20 honorees, six of whom are being honored in the medium-sized firm category.
Wells is a shareholder in Gunster’s business litigation practice and serves on the firm’s board of directors. He focuses his practice on bet-the-company litigation. He is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and a master in the Chester Bedell Inns of Court. In 2016, he was listed by the Best Lawyers in America as Lawyer of the Year for Jacksonville in the construction litigation category. Beginning in 2012, Florida Trend inducted Wells into the Legal Elite Hall of Fame, an honor granted to fewer than 2 percent of active members of the Florida Bar. He has also been honored by the Florida Super Lawyers list for 10 consecutive years. Wells earned his B.S. from Florida International University and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law.
More than 160 attorneys were nominated for the Ultimate Attorneys Award, narrowed down by two weeks of private voting to determine which attorneys are most respected by their peers. There are four categories for the award: small, medium and large firms, as well as corporate counsel. Gunster has 20 attorneys who practice in the Jacksonville area; statewide, the firm has more than 170 attorneys connected across 13 offices.
