It's not every day that one of Gunster's attorneys is recognized for athletics. Stacie Townsend was recently inducted into the softball hall of fame at the University of Texas at El Paso. Townsend is an associate in Gunster's corporate, emerging companies, and technology groups.
Townsend played softball at UTEP while she earned her Bachelors of Business Administration, which she completed in 2009. She also earned her Masters of Business Administration from UTEP in 2011.
While playing softball for the UPEP miners Townsend received many accolades including:
- Finalist for NCAA Woman of the Year
- Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Player of the Week
- ESPN The Magazine Academic All America First Team
- Received the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
- Received the C-USA Jim Castañeda Postgraduate scholarship
- First team All-conference USA selection in 2008 and 2010
- Record for highest earned run average for the university
- Record for wins at the university with 64 wins
- Record for completed games for the university, with 72 completed wins
- Record for innings pitched for the university with 722.1 innings
- Record for most strikeouts for the university, with 802 strikeouts
