The next meeting of the Society for Corporate Governance (formerly the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals), Florida Subchapter, will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Gunster's office in Miami with live videoconference feeds to our offices in Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa.
The program will get underway at 4 p.m. and will consist of two discussions:
Investors' roundtable
We're thrilled to have a panel of institutional investor rock stars:
- Eileen Cohen, managing director, U.S. equity, J.P. Morgan Asset Management
- Mike McCauley, senior officer, investor programs & governance, Florida's State Board of Administration
- Jennifer O'Dell, assistant director, corporate affairs, Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA)
Eileen, Mike and Jennifer will provide insights, many of them provocative, into the issues investors are thinking about, disclosures they want to see, and questions they want companies to answer – all of which companies will be dealing with in the 2017 proxy season.
When cybersecurity meets governance
- Mary Galligan, managing director, cyber risk services, Deloitte, and former special agent in charge of cyber and special operations for the FBI's New York office, will provide practical approaches for dealing with the ever-present threat of cybersecurity breaches and their kin, including how to prepare your boards and management to address issues before they happen.
- Steven Boyne, shareholder, Gunster, will highlight the pros and cons of cyber insurance.
These programs will be followed by wine and hors d'oeuvres (Miami only).
There is no charge for attending, and CLE/CPE credits are being applied for.
