Matthew Brown

Overview

Matthew A. Brown is an associate in Gunster’s Private Wealth Services group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, asset protection, and tax-advantaged wealth transfers. Matthew practices primarily in the firm’s Tampa office.

When collaborating with clients on personalized estate plans, Matthew takes a proactive and responsive approach throughout the process in striving to develop ideal solutions for each goal of the client. Matthew enjoys developing lasting relationships with his clients and is committed to the needs of not only the individual, but also the family.

Prior to joining Gunster in 2023, Matthew received his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law where he specialized his studies in advanced estate planning techniques, the federal taxation of gratuitous transfers (estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes), and the income tax considerations for trusts and estates. Matthew received his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law where he served on the executive board of the Tax Law Society. He received his B.A. from Florida State University with a major in History.

As a lifelong Floridian, Matthew is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending his time in nature. In pursuit of his joy for SCUBA diving Matthew has earned his PADI Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications.
