Overview
Samuel J. Merritt is an attorney focusing on the ever-evolving field of eDiscovery and Information Governance from both the litigation and consulting perspective. He has extensive experience consulting with clients and outside counsel law firms to evaluate and negotiate discovery orders, review and production workflows, and legal strategies. Sam has an extensive technical background and experience utilizing the full range of eDiscovery tools. He prides himself on his knowledge of the discovery process and ability to assist clients to leverage technology to provide defensible, cost-effective solutions to complex discovery issues.
Prior to joining Gunster, Sam worked with multiple Am Law 100 law firms and Fortune 100 companies managing high-profile complex eDiscovery matters including multi-district litigations, products liability matters, and class-action lawsuits. His experience includes developing discovery and review workflows, negotiating eDiscovery protocols, managing document review and production, and utilizing technology-assisted review and analysis tools. His experience and extensive technical training allow him to communicate with and between outside counsel, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to evaluate issues and provide advice and strategies to achieve specific corporate objectives.
Sam works with clients at every stage of representation, from initial case evaluation and legal hold strategies through review management, production, and case resolution. He strives to provide clients with straightforward and practical solutions to all aspects of the discovery process with an eye toward each client’s budget and goals.
