WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (December 1, 2014) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that a shareholder in its Key Largo office, Timothy Thomes, has been appointed to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 16th circuit.

On November 19, Florida Governor Rick Scott appointed Thomes and 12 others to five different Judicial Nominating Commissions throughout the state. Thomes was reappointed from a list of nominees submitted to the governor’s office by the Florida Bar.

Thomes’ four-year term runs from November 19, 2014, to July 1, 2018; he was first appointed to the commission in 2011. Judicial Nominating Commissions help fill judicial vacancies by selecting and submitting names of qualified individuals to the governor. The 16th judicial circuit covers the trial courts of Monroe County, the southernmost county in Florida.

Thomes anchors Gunster’s Key Largo office, which opened in 2012. Other Gunster attorneys currently appointed to Judicial Nominating Commissions include Gregor J. Schwinghammer (15th Circuit, 2012-2016) and Keith Sonderling (4th District Court of Appeal, 2012-2016).
