WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (July 21, 2020) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, has added Scott M. Coffey as a shareholder in the firm’s corporate law practice. He joined the West Palm Beach and Boca Raton offices.

Coffey arrives at Gunster with over two decades of legal experience guiding publicly and privately held entities in a diverse range of general corporate and corporate finance transactions. In addition to serving as borrowers’ and lenders’ counsel in a variety of domestic and cross‑border loan transactions, he has handled private equity investments, strategic alliances, leveraged buyouts, bridge financings, private mergers and acquisitions, workouts and restructurings. Coffey also has experience counseling family offices in separating complex non-liquid assets for high-net-worth individuals.

At Gunster, Coffey will continue his wide-ranging corporate law practice, while also leveraging his extensive expertise in the energy and transportation sectors. He has counseled borrowers and sponsors of many renewable energy projects and served as panel counsel to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration in connection with the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act loan program.

“Scott is an industry-leading corporate attorney with an impressive array of experience that is as versatile as it is unique,” said Bill Perry, managing shareholder of Gunster. “His addition furthers our reputation of attracting the top legal talent in the state and strengthens the corporate law practice to further serve our broad range of clients.”

He has also been a member of the Business Law Section of the Broward and Palm Beach County Bar Associations and the American Bar Association’s Environment, Energy and Resources Section.
