FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Jan. 2, 2019) –  Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that William L. Rafferty, Jr. joined the firm as a shareholder in the corporate law practice. He will split his time between the Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville offices.

Rafferty, Jr.Rafferty focuses his practice on a variety of both domestic and international corporate matters, including finance and business negotiations, as well as preparing and overseeing complex commercial transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and commercial loan transactions, venture capital and real estate.

“We are thrilled to add top talent like Bill to our team to further cement our position as the leading law firm in Florida,” said Gunster managing shareholder Bill Perry.

Rafferty stated his interest in joining Gunster was based on the opportunity to offer his clients a full-service business practice that includes Gunster’s strong in-house litigation team.

Rafferty has received considerable professional recognition, including being named AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell and one of the Top Lawyers in South Florida by South Florida Legal Guide.

He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Florida Venture Forum and the Florida Bar. Rafferty is also active in the community as a major fundraiser for the tag! Children’s Museum in St. Augustine. He is a former trustee of both the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Zoological Society of Florida, and a past president of the Seminole Club of Miami-Dade County.

Rafferty holds a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and his B.S. from Florida State University. Though he no longer practices, he is also a certified public accountant.
