Expansion marks 10th location for Florida-based law firm

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.  — Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest business law firms, has expanded its practice to serve clients in the Florida Keys with the opening of a 10th office in the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo.  Timothy Thomes will anchor this office, which will focus on business litigation, trust and estates, and real estate law.

“This latest expansion to the Florida Keys will further solidify Gunster’s well-deserved reputation as Florida’s law firm for business,” said H. William Perry, Gunster’s managing shareholder. “With 10 offices across the state our clientele has access to our full spectrum of services in nearly every market in Florida.”

Thomes focuses his practice on business litigation and estate planning, and has extensive experience in commercial and residential real estate transactions. He is a Florida Certified Arbitrator and member of the American Arbitration Association, as well as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in both the U.S. and the U.K.  He is the past president of the Florida Keys Bar Association. Thomes received his B.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University, a J.D. from the College of William and Mary and did postdoctoral work in Tax & Estate Planning at the University of Miami.

Gunster has grown over the past three years in contrast to the widespread trend of downsizing in the legal services market. In 2011, Gunster established an office in Tampa and significantly expanded its presence in Jacksonville. Also in 2011, the firm expanded its Miami practice with the addition of six attorneys who contribute to the firm’s international business litigation, real estate, and environmental and land use practice areas.  The firm was recently recognized by the National Law Journal as one of the top 250 largest law firms in the nation.
