WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (November 15, 2019) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce shareholder Ken Bell was appointed by Chief Justice Charles Canady of the Florida Supreme Court to serve on the Workgroup on Improved Resolution of Civil Cases. The purpose of the Workgroup is to identify efficiencies in courtroom procedure to expedite the resolution of civil proceedings.

The Workgroup on Improved Resolution of Civil Cases is part of the Judicial Management Council which serves as a focused advisory body that assists the chief justice and the Court. The Workgroup will be chaired by Second District Court of Appeal Judge Robert Morris and guided by the goals of The Long-Range Strategic Plan for the Florida Judicial Brand 2016-21. It will study current judicial case management practices and recommend enhancements to better achieve this goal. More than two million civil cases are filed annually in Florida. The judicial branch strives to resolve those cases in a timely, cost-efficient, and accountable manner while maintaining due process.

Bell is a former Supreme Court Justice who served on the Court from 2002-08. In his legal work, Bell focuses on civil appeals and trial support. He currently co-chairs Gunster’s firmwide Appellate practice, and serves as an arbitrator and civil mediator.
