WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (May 9, 2019) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Seth R. Kaplan has been tapped to serve as chair of the inaugural Charitable Planning and Exempt Organizations Committee for the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law (RPPTL) Section of The Florida Bar.

The new committee plans to focus on education as its primary purpose and its first major project will be the Inaugural Charitable Symposium slated for fall/winter 2020.

“Charitable planning is an important aspect of wealth advising and I am honored to have been chosen to lead this inaugural committee,” said Kaplan regarding his role as chair. “Whether one is selling a business, exercising options or simply having a profitable year, he or she should consider ways to reduce their  tax liability through charitable tax planning.”

He has been involved in planning and coordinating major gifts to national universities and other charitable organizations, including significant impact gifts to Drexel University, the University of Miami, the University of Florida, United Way of Miami-Dade County and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. Kaplan has lectured extensively on topics that focus on philanthropy and high impact charitable planning, both locally and nationally, including the NYU Institute on Federal Taxation.
