WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 26, 2014) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that attorney Heidi Davis Knapik has joined the board of directors for the South Florida chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).

Heidi Davis Knapik is a shareholder in Gunster’s Fort Lauderdale office. She focuses her practice on land use, environmental and real estate law, representing commercial, residential and industrial developers and property owners in all areas of land use and zoning matters.

Knapik has been a member of NAIOP since 2009 and is currently its vice chair of programming.

She joins other South Florida luminaries on this year’s NAIOP board, including

• Melanie Dickson, publisher of the South Florida Business Journal
• Bob Swindell, president and CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance
• Carol Ellis-Cutler, senior vice president and partner at Colliers International South Florida

NAIOP aims to advance responsible commercial real estate development. It supports commercial real estate professionals with advocacy, education and business opportunities. NAIOP South Florida is the largest NAIOP chapter in the state. The association currently includes more than 350 members, representing constituents in the tricounty area, as well as Martin and St. Lucie counties.

In her legal practice, Knapik has experience in the areas of comprehensive plans and plan amendments; due diligence for property acquisition and development; DRIs; code compliance and permitting; platting, rezoning and property restriction issues; eminent domain, property rights and land use appeals.

Knapik joined Gunster in 1997 after working as Assistant General Counsel for the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from The George Washington University in D.C.
