Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, along with the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida (AACCCF), hosted the 6th Annual CEO Roundtable Luncheon in Orlando, Florida on October 30, 2024. The program, themed “Lessons in Leadership,” was part of the AACCCF’s “Empowerment Luncheon” series, designed to engage, enlighten, and empower attendees.
Derek Bruce, Gunster Orlando Office Managing Shareholder, and Anta Plowden, attorney in the firm’s Business Litigation practice, moderated an engaging and inspiring discussion. Panelists included Senator Tracie Davis, Florida Senate District 5; Michael Young, President/CEO of ACY Contractors, LLC; and Archbishop Allen Wiggins, Senior Pastor at The Hope Church. The program brought together a diverse group of attendees from various industries and backgrounds, including appointed and elected officials, as well as dynamic business and community leaders from across the region.
The discussion underscored the importance of “The Five Ps” – Proper People Placement Prevents Problems.” This theme resonated throughout the event, emphasizing the critical role of effective leadership and strategic decision-making in fostering business growth and community development. Panelists also highlighted the importance of communicating your vision, fostering a supportive work culture, and harnessing the power of mentorship in leading the next generation forward.
“It is a pleasure to co-host with the AACCCF each year the CEO Roundtable Luncheon,” Bruce remarked. “The business landscape in Florida is ever-evolving, and programs like this provide a unique platform for leaders to share with the greater community their valuable insights, experiences, and strategies for success.”
As Florida continues to flourish, Gunster and the AACCCF remain committed to partnering with and ensuring that black and minority-owned businesses have the tools and resources they need to succeed.
