Gunster chairman of the board to speak at Florida Blue Key event

Florida Blue Key is an honor society at the University of Florida which promotes service. Each year the organization hosts a “tapping banquet,” which inducts current students into the organization and honors political and community leaders. This year the banquet will take place on April 16 at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Gainesville. The event celebrates students and prominent members of the community by “tapping” them. University of Florida students are eligible to be tapped, as well as community leaders who have made a siginficant impact on the University of Florida and the surrounding community.

This year, LeMieux is on the list of leaders to receive an honorary tap. Previous winners have included Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Governor Rick Scott, Supreme Court Justice Labarga, and Senator Marco Rubio. LeMieux is being honored for his role as a United States Senator as well as ongoing leadership in Florida through his role at Gunster. This year 62 students are being tapped as well as nine honorary leaders.

Gunster attorney George LeMieuxAs chairman of the board of directors, George LeMieux focuses his practice on resolving business, and governmental disputes, and advising CEOs and C-suite executives on business, law and government from a local, state and national perspective. He was Florida’s 34th United States Senator in the 111th Congress. He also served as the governor’s chief of staff overseeing all state agencies and operations. In that role, he negotiated a gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
