The Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce held its second annual business awards gala on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.
Lila A. Jaber, a shareholder in Gunster’s Tallahassee office and leader of its governmental affairs law & lobbying practice, was honored as a Director of the Year at the 2015 chamber gala. She is a founding member of the chamber, and former chair of Leadership Florida, a 1,500-member statewide organization helping to build leaders for the public good.
The chamber serves minority- and women-owned businesses throughout Leon, Gadsden, Franklin, Jefferson and Wakulla counties in northeast Florida.
Honorees at Friday’s gala were:
- Leaders and Legend Award — Attorney Harold Knowles, Knowles and Randolph Law Firm
- Directors of the Year — Lila Jaber of Gunster; Antonio Jefferson, manager for the city of Gretna
- Minority/Women Business Enterprise Professional of the Year — Michael Campbell, director of the North Florida Outreach Division at the Jim Moran Institute For Global Entrepreneurship
- Chairman’s Award — Chris Curry, aviation director at Tallahassee International Airport
- President’s Award — Jennifer Fennel, vice president at CoreMessage Inc.
- Minority/Women Business Enterprise of the Year — Kingdom First Realty, owned by Christic and Karlus Henry
