The Florida section of the American Water Resources Association will hold its next technical meeting on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, in Apalachicola at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve in Eastpoint, Florida.

The meeting theme is the management and restoration of northwest Florida’s water resources.

BOAT TOUR: Apalachicola River & Bay

The day will begin with a morning boat tour (optional; additional $15 for this event; seats are limited; advance registration required) showcasing the Apalachicola River and Bay.
The boat tour departs at 8:45 a.m. from the Mill Pond Marina located at the northwest terminus of Market Street (479 Market Street, Apalachicola, 32320).

LUNCH

Lunch is included with your meeting registration fee, and follows the boat tour at the Owl Café, 15 Avenue D, Apalachicola, Florida, 32320.

AFTERNOON SESSIONS

Technical sessions in the afternoon will be held at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve’s Environmental Education and Training Center located at 108 Island Drive, Eastpoint, Florida, 32328.

The sessions will focus on:

  • springs protection initiatives
  • the Restore Act
  • streamflow monitoring
  • northwest Florida’s water resources
  • habitat restoration in Apalachicola Bay
  • the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve

RECEPTION

Following the technical meeting will be a poolside reception at the Water Street Hotel and Marina (329 Water Street, Apalachicola, Florida, 32320).
