July 30, 2010 (Fort Lauderdale, FL) – Bob White, a shareholder in Gunster’s Fort Lauderdale office, discussed the market for mergers and acquisitions in the South Florida Business Journal’s “Glacial M&A Pace May Be Thawing.”
In the article, White described how entrepreneurs took a hit when the recession took over and the value of their businesses went down. “That really put the frost on a lot of deals,” White said.
“If you remember, people were worrying about the crash of the international banking system and buying guns to fortify their houses.” While that type of fear has dissipated, White stressed that we won’t see an improvement in M&A by the end of 2010. The market is still frozen, but possibly melting and moving slowly (cited SFBJ).
