Mark Bonfanti, a labor and employment attorney in Gunster’s Tallahassee office, talked to the The Miami Herald recently on the Broward Teachers Union’s efforts to rebuild its reputation as its former president faces theft charges.

Bonfanti is in favor of the reforms the union says it is now implementing, but said many of the safeguards the union lists should’ve been considered long before this.

“There’s certain things on that list that I would say, ‘Hey, wait a minute, this didn’t happen before?’ ” Bonfanti said.
