JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (December 29, 2008) — Marsha A. McCoy has joined the law firm of Gunster Yoakley as an associate in the firm’s Jacksonville office. Gunster, an 85-year-old law firm, has eight offices throughout Florida and 140 attorneys statewide.
McCoy concentrates her practice in business litigation, bankruptcy and debtor/creditor rights. Prior to joining Gunster, McCoy served as litigation associate at Stutsman Thames and Markey, P.A. in Jacksonville where she researched and analyzed complex corporate bankruptcy issues and the federal bankruptcy code. She also represented debtors and creditors in bankruptcy litigation hearings before the Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida and helped draft commercial lease agreements. Additionally, McCoy has served as litigation associate at the Law Offices of Sheldon J. Schlesinger, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale and as an attorney and director of investor relations for the Jacksonville, Fla.-based Montecito Property Company, LLC. McCoy is currently a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association and the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association.
She received her juris doctor with honors from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law where she also earned book awards for the highest grades in contracts and appellate advocacy. McCoy earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of North Florida where she graduated with honors.
