Falcon Cove students learn about how the government works through Justice Teaching Program
Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Feb. 12, 2009): Robert Malinoski, an attorney with Gunster is offering his insight to potential lawyers and lawmakers of tomorrow through the Justice Teaching Program. Throughout the year, Malinoski is invited into Mrs. Angelo’s U.S. history class at Falcon Cove Middle School providing students with knowledge and wisdom on how the justice system works, from filing cases and going to trial to the broad spectrum of governmental issues.

“The Justice Teaching program is a terrific initiative that gives students a perspective on the realities of Florida’s court system, and offers them the opportunity to ask questions of people with direct experience,” said Malinoski. “The interaction is wonderful and these students are involved and excited. It is also an opportunity for me to give back to the local community.”

The program aims to benefit students by promoting an understanding of Florida’s justice system and laws, develop critical thinking abilities and problem solving skills, and demonstrate the effective interaction of courts within the constitutional structure.

Malinoski has been involved with the program for two years, and says that each lesson generates different reactions from the students. He noted that the recent presidential election sparked interest in law and government not only on a state level, but nationally, as well.

Malinoski, an associate in the firm’s litigation department based in its Fort Lauderdale office, concentrates his practice on environmental law, litigation and counseling, contamination and remediation issues, as well as administrative law. He earned his J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law and his B.A. and M.S. degrees at Louisiana State University.
