West Palm Beach-based Gunster is the winning suitor for a block of nine attorneys in Tampa Bay who are leaving Ruden McClosky, which is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The acquisition means Gunster will broaden its statewide footprint with a new Tampa office – it’s ninth.

Gunster is one of Florida’s oldest and biggest firms. It has grown steadily over the past two years — with the Tampa acquisitions, it will have 182 attorneys. In the three counties of South Florida, it ranked fifth on the Business Journal’s list of the 2011 Top 200 Largest Law Firms.
