Christ Fellowship megachurch wants to buy old Dillard’s space at Boynton Beach Mall

A local megachurch has a deal on the table to buy a closed 126,000-square-foot Dillard’s store at the Boynton Beach Mall.

Palm Beach Gardens-based Christ Fellowship has a letter of intent with the department store’s owner to open “a very significant facility,” its planner told commissioners at this week’s meeting.

The news came at an awkward time. Commissioners just voted in November for a six-month moratorium on permitting non-profits in areas zoned commercial or retail. Such as the mall.

“The church can’t wait six months to go forward,” Dillard’s lawyer Brian Seymour told the panel.
