FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, N.Y. (July 21, 2008) – The National Law Journal, the leading weekly newspaper covering the U.S. legal market and the U.S. courts selected Gunster Yoakley shareholder Michael Cavendish as a special correspondent on the subject of trends in corporate litigation management. The resulting feature news article “Towards a ‘zero litigation’ theory” ran on the front page of the NLJ’s July 7, 2008, special issue on litigation management. This marks the second time that Cavendish has written for the National Law Journal.

“The opportunity to act as the National Law Journal’s special correspondent came about as the direct result of the work that Gunster does with leading corporations and their general counsel,” Cavendish says. “The NLJ keeps tabs on who does what at the highest level of the commercial legal market, and they’re not shy about asking firms and lawyers to leverage their expertise for the readership.”

Gunster Yoakley today boasts a Business Litigation Practice Group featuring more than thirty lawyers practicing complex commercial litigation across five of the firm’s eight Florida offices. One of the key services the group provides to the general counsel suites of major companies is proprietary advice about managing lawsuits and legal expense. The Business Litigation Practice Group is chaired this year by Gunster partners John F. Mariani of West Palm Beach and Michael W. Marcil of Fort Lauderdale.

Michael Cavendish is a Gunster Yoakley shareholder practicing in Jacksonville and a member of the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group. His practice areas include complex commercial, banking and environmental litigation. He is the author of two recently released collections of legal essays, Orange Blossom Jurisprudence (Dragon Pub. 2007) and Coeur du Feu/Fireheart (Aventine Press 2008). He is a past recipient of the Florida Bar Journal’s Excellence in Legal Writing Award (2000).
