MIAMI – September 23, 2008 -Manjit Gill has joined Gunster Yoakley, one of Florida’s largest full-service law firms, as a shareholder in the Business Litigation Practice Group in Miami.

Gill has extensive experience in international business dispute resolution and intellectual property litigation for both domestic and foreign businesses including:

Represented client in defense of lawsuit in Florida brought by Canadian and Argentinean company relating to international cargo dispute.
Defended Brazilian corporation in breach of contract matter in Florida resulting in dismissal of complaint in favor of foreign forum.
Represented large cable television network in international arbitration against Latin American television network.
Represented domestic automotive parts supplier in complex international sales dispute with Chinese company involving U.N. Convention on the International Sale of Goods.
Represented large health maintenance organization in complex dispute with computer software provider involving failed computer system implementation.
Represented several website owners in copyright and trademark infringement disputes involving other websites.
Litigation against competing Web site.
Represented Florida-based company in complex trademark and copyright infringement dispute with Canadian competitor.

Gill, who has written extensively on international and intellectual property legal matters, is the author of the chapter “This Year in IP Law: Looking Back and Looking Forward,” in Intellectual Property 2008, published by Aspatore Books in 2008, and the chapter “Negotiating IP Settlements”, in Maximizing Intellectual Property Value, published by Aspatore Books in 2007. He serves as co-editor of the American Bar Association, Litigation Section, ADR Committee, Conflict Management, and he has been editor of Florida Bar Journal since 2006. Gill is currently editor and chair of publications for International Law Quarterly, International Law Section; and was vice-chair of publications for the International Litigation and Arbitration Committee.

Gill is President-Elect and a member of the board of directors of the South Asian Bar Association for Florida and the North American South Asian Bar Association; a member of the board of directors of the India-U.S. Chamber of Commerce in South Florida; and a member of the Duke University Alumni Advisory Committee for South Florida. He previously served as an executive committee member for the Indo-U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Tampa and as liaison to the Indo-U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum.

Gill earned an LL.M. (Master of Laws) in international law from New York University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. He is a member of The Florida, Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, and New York Bar Associations, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida and the District of Columbia.
