FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Orbis, a non-profit organization for young, South Florida business professionals, teamed up with Tomorrow’s Rainbow, in conjunction with Volunteer Broward, for a community service event. More than 300 people rolled up their sleeves to make over Tomorrow’s Rainbow’s facility.

Tomorrow’s Rainbow, located in Coconut Creek, is a special place for children that have experienced the death of a loved one. By incorporating miniature horse interactions with therapeutic play areas and facilitated peer support, children are given the tools necessary to take their own personal grief journey in a way that is meaningful to them. Tomorrow’s Rainbow is a safe place where children feel, often for the first time, understood.

During the Saturday morning community service event, Orbis members helped give Tomorrow’s Rainbow a makeover by repainting a barn and giving a hand wherever it was needed. By brightening up the organization’s facility, volunteers helped continue its mission to help grieving children.

“We believe in the community, and we know we can make a difference,” said Michael S. Schimmel, co-founder of Orbis and real estate attorney at the Fort Lauderdale offices of Gunster Yoakley. “While our mission is to provide networking opportunities for young professionals, we know that networking with the combined purpose of helping the community offers the best results.”

“Everyone who came out to brighten up the Tomorrow’s Rainbow facility had a wonderful time meeting new people while doing something good for the community,” added Kelly Edwards, committee member of Orbis and audit senior manager of Grant Thornton LLP. “It is truly a great feeling to be part of an organization such as Orbis that supports our community.”
