WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 19, 2008) — Stephen G. Vogelsang, a shareholder in the West Palm Beach office of Gunster Yoakley and a member of its Private Wealth Services Group, has been elected to the board of directors of the Child Life Institute. The institute helps local children and their families who are facing illness and educates them about injury prevention. Vogelsang was also recently appointed to the board of directors for the Children’s Healthcare Charity, a public charity that raises funds for the benefit of local children. The Children’s Healthcare Charity operates the New Honda Classic, South Florida’s premier PGA Tour golf tournament.

The Child Life Institute is a non-profit organization that develops and facilitates a vital array of free ancillary pediatric programs at St. Mary’s Medical Center and throughout the community in order to provide children and their families’ much-needed emotional, financial and educational support. Its four key focus areas are its pediatric oncology support team; “child life specialists” who help reduce the anxiety children and their families often experience during hospitalization; mental health support as well as children’s advocacy, referrals, education and bereavement programs for ill children and their families; and the Palm Beach County Safe Kids Coalition. In addition to Vogelsang, The Child Life Institute recently named to its board Colleen DeWoody Bracci, CPA, a principal in the tax services department of DazkalBolton LLP; Patricia A. Travis, director of Lydian Bank in North Palm Beach; Patty McDonald, president and CEO of the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation; and Julie Healey, co-founder of Be A Star Foundation.

Vogelsang also serves on the board of directors for the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. He concentrates his legal practice in the areas of advanced estate and gift tax planning for individuals, estate administration, tax and succession planning for owners of closely-held businesses, and the formation and operation of tax-exempt organizations. An attorney at Gunster Yoakley since 1987, he earned his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Arts at the University of California at Los Angeles and his Master of Law in taxation from the University of Florida.
