JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (November 7, 2008) — Two commercial litigation attorneys and shareholders in the Jacksonville office of Gunster Yoakley, have each written a chapter in Lexis-Nexis’ new hardcover, “Evidence in Florida, 7th edition,” a joint-venture publication between the Florida Bar and Lexis Publishing. The book, which features expertise and insight from law practitioners, judges and law professors, offers a practical approach to the critical issues that arise during the course of a trial. William E. Adams, Jr. wrote Ch. 6, “Impeachment,” and Michael Cavendish wrote Ch. 12, “The Parol Evidence Rule.” The book is available for purchase at www.bookstore.lexis.com.

Adams concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation. His practice covers the range of commercial disputes, focusing of late on issues arising from the mortgage lending crisis. Governor Charlie Crist appointed Adams to the Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission and Adams’ peers elected him to Florida Trend magazine’s Legal Elite. Adams earned his juris doctor magna cum laude and his bachelor of arts degree from Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He is a member of the Florida and Texas Bar associations.

Cavendish is a litigator focusing on complex commercial disputes, environmental law, real estate and finance. His recent appearances include providing class action counsel to a publicly traded bank holding company, lead trial counsel to a division of a Fortune 100 bank, and lead environmental liability trial counsel to Florida-based private developers. He is the author of two collections of legal essays, a dozen articles in state and national legal journals, and chapters on evidence and procedure in the Lexis Publishing books Evidence in Florida and Florida Civil Practice Before Trial. He served an appointment to the Florida Bar’s Civil Procedure Rules Committee from 2003 to 2007. Named a member of Florida’s Legal Elite by Florida Trend Magazine, and cited for a notable string of wins in 2006 by BusinessWeek Magazine, Cavendish is also a member of the Florida chapter of the Order of the Coif. AV rated as independently determined by Martindale Hubbell, he received his J.D. and M.A. from the University of Florida, and his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. He served on the gubernatorial transition team for Florida Governor Charlie Crist and in 2007, Governor Crist appointed him to a seat on the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.
