James Davis and Rick Burgess named to elite list
Who’s Who Legal: Florida 2008 makes its debut next year as one of several U.S. state-specific books honoring the best practitioners within the legal marketplace. Gunster Yoakley attorneys James Davis and Rick Burgess from the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office will be included in the publication, from the publishers of the Who’s Who Legal International Series.
James Davis, a shareholder based in Fort Lauderdale and a member of the firm’s corporate department, will be listed among a select 17 lawyers who will form the employee benefits chapter. He concentrates his practice in corporate and business law, ERISA, employee benefits, taxation and estate planning. Davis is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is a Florida Bar Board Certified Tax Lawyer. Davis was the Chair of the Board of Legal Specialization and Education of The Florida Bar that administers the Certification Plan for Board Certified lawyers in Florida. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University Law School and joined the firm in 2001.
Rick Burgess, a shareholder and member of the firm’s litigation department, will be named in the environment chapter with 35 others. His practice areas for the past 20 years include environmental counseling in connection with mergers and acquisitions; environmental litigation; environment and agriculture-related policy and regulatory matters; and enforcement, permitting and litigation in the areas of water management, solid and hazardous waste, natural resource damages and soil and groundwater contamination. Burgess is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and joined the firm in 1994.
Who’s Who Legal: Florida 2008 will identify 397 of the state’s pre-eminent lawyers drawn from 24 practice areas. Attorneys are nominated through independent research with clients and peers.
