Michael V. Mitrione received the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce’s first ever “Award of Visionary Leadership” at the Chamber’s recent 2011 Leadership Awards Dinner at the PGA National Resort & Spa.  The event recognized Mitrione and five other business and community leaders for their devotion to the Northern Palm Beach County community.

This is the first time that the Chamber has ever bestowed the “Award of Visionary Leadership.”  As Chairman, for nearly two years, Mitrione led the Chamber  through a trying time which included a change at the CEO position and an economic downturn.  The Chamber not only survived those events, but emerged larger, stronger, and more financially secure than ever in Northern Palm Beach County.

“It is not often that a leader comes to an organization and offers the leadership skills, the time, the business acumen and the sense of humor that Mike possesses.  Through his leadership, he steadfastly offered a clear vision of what the Chamber should be, and what this chamber ought to be. His is a vision to which we will continually aspire,” said Ed Chase, President and CEO of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce.

Mitrione is a board member and shareholder at the West Palm Beach offices of Gunster, Florida’s Law Firm for Business. He has practiced corporate law for more than 36 years and focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, corporate finance and securities, joint ventures and partnerships, financial institutions and licensing in sports representation.

Mitrione is well known for his community service.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Quantum House and the University of Florida Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.  He also is the regional president of the alumni association of Fordham University School of Law and is on the Board of Trustees of The Gary Carter Foundation, Inc. and the Max Planck Florida Foundation.  Mitrione is a past chair of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, and a former board member of SunFest and of the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation .
