FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (November 21, 2006) – David C. Scileppi, an attorney with the law firm of Gunster Yoakley, has become chair of the South Florida Chapter of the Hofstra University Alumni Association. With nearly 3,000 alumni from the Long Island-based Hofstra in South Florida, Scileppi will be responsible for reinvigorating the chapter and organizing the activities and events of the group.

“It is an honor and a challenge to be chair of the South Florida Chapter of the Hofstra University Alumni Association,” said Scileppi, who is a 1996 graduate with a degree in accounting. “Although we have a substantial number of alumni in South Florida, we haven’t been as strong and focused as I know we can be. I look forward to leading the group and creating a dynamic network of graduates.”

Scileppi, who was also the editor of The Chronicle at Hofstra, focuses his practice on advising large and small corporate clients in the areas of formation, corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and federal and state securities law; reviewing client SEC filings; drafting and reviewing SEC registration statements and private placement memoranda for the public and private placement of debt and equity securities; and advising clients on Hart-Scott-Rodino compliance. In addition to his corporate and securities practice, Scileppi devotes much of his work to providing legal advice to the banking industry. He regularly provides advice to financial services clients on lending and regulatory compliance.
