MIAMI — November 16, 2007 — Florida Governor Charlie Crist has appointed Clinton R. Losego, a shareholder and member of the Litigation Department of the Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart law firm, to serve a four-year term on the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws.The Commission’s purpose is to consider, research and draft proposed model laws designed to provide uniformity of law among the states on subjects affecting movement by citizens, business transactions and commerce.The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation. Losego will be one of six Commissioners serving on behalf of the State of Florida.

The Commission, which has been in existence for more than 100 years and includes volunteer members from every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, is comprised of more than 350 practicing attorneys, judges, academic scholars and other state officials who provide state governments with proposed legislation, primarily in the area of public laws.  Former commissioners include President Woodrow Wilson and U.S. Supreme Court Justices Louis Brandeis, William H. Rehnquist and David Souter.

“It is an honor to be selected by Governor Crist to serve the State of Florida in this role,” said Losego. “I am excited about the opportunity and am looking forward to working with the other Commissioners to continue to bring greater clarity and uniformity to the laws that effect the citizens of our state.”
