WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 21, 2018) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Mike Freed has been selected as a 2018 Ultimate Attorney by the Jacksonville Business Journal.
The Ultimate Attorneys list honors those who have helped elevate the legal profession and have shaped Jacksonville’s business community. Freed was recognized for his pro bono efforts.
Freed wholeheartedly believes in supporting important causes for the public good – especially those that can have a big impact at the local level. In 2017, he undertook a monumental, solo, 157.2-mile run as a fundraiser for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA), which provides legal service for the low income community in Northeast Florida. He ran six marathons in six consecutive days, from Tallahassee to Jacksonville. The goal was to raise $50,000 for JALA, which Freed exceeded by raising almost $70,000 and garnering vast state and national media attention for legal aid organizations. He will pursue this again in 2018 and is growing the concept to be a team-based event, and has matching funds committed from Baptist Health Foundation.
Freed is a trial lawyer with a wealth of experience in the courtroom and arbitrations, administrative proceedings and other forms of dispute resolution. His professional service includes serving as former president of the Jacksonville Bar Association and being appointed by Gov. Scott to the Judicial Nominating Commission. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Freed has dedicated his time to the Jacksonville County Day School, the Nonprofit center of Northeast Florida, the Clara White Mission, Jacksonville University, Leadership Jacksonville, and Leadership Florida.
Freed will be honored by the JBJ at an awards celebration on Thursday March 22, 2018 at the Epping Forest Yacht and Country Club.
