Jacksonville, FL (June 15, 2010)-Michael Cavendish, a shareholder in Gunster’s Jacksonville office, has been awarded the prestigious Walter S. Crumbley Practice Management & Development award by the Florida Bar. This award recognizes a member of the Florida Bar who has distinguished himself professionally and who has rendered outstanding service to the profession of the practice of law or the management of the practice of law. The award will be presented at the 2010 Florida Bar Annual Convention, in conjunction with the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section’s Annual Awards Reception June 25 at the Boca Raton Resort and Club.
Cavendish was tapped as the special national correspondent on litigation management by the National Law Journal, and wrote two features on lawsuit and legal dispute management during the Great Recession for that publication. He is a contributing member of Legal OnRamp, the nationwide Web 2.0 community for legal management issues between corporate and private counsel, and he is frequently called on by leading U.S. corporations to devise legal portfolio management proposals for complex and multi-division corporate entities.
Cavendish, who concentrates his trial practice in complex commercial disputes, environmental law, real estate and finance, has been named to Florida Trend‘s Legal Elite six years in a row. He is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell, and was selected to the LawDragon 3000 list in the years 2006 and 2010. This is his second award from the Florida Bar; in 2000 he was awarded the Excellence in Legal Writing Award.
