WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (May 7, 2018) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that litigation attorney Mike Freed has been recognized as the 2018 Lawyer of the Year by the Jacksonville Daily Record, in conjunction with the Jacksonville Bar Association.

Jacksonville Bar Association executive director and publisher emeritus of the Jacksonville Daily Record, Jim Bailey, presented Freed with the award at JBA’s annual Law Day luncheon on Wednesday May 2. Bailey stated that Freed “was selected not for his substantial career accomplishments, but for his dedication to helping people who can’t help themselves.”
Freed is a strong supporter of the Jacksonville community through the dedication of his time to the Jacksonville County Day School, the Nonprofit center of Northeast Florida, the Clara White Mission, Jacksonville University, Leadership Jacksonville, and Leadership Florida. In 2017, he launched Freed to Run where he ran six marathons in six days to benefit Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. The inaugural event raised nearly $70,000, which was $30,000 more than the original goal of the project. Freed to Run is now in its second year and is scheduled to take place in December 2018.
